vegas baby
Flew in that morning from New Orleans, my 1st time in Vegas. checked into the Luxor with a couple of friends& we went straight to the venue. The scene was epic. Between Dave Mathews and the Dead, Coltrane's "A few of my favorite things" was playing during the interlude and I could feel the energy building before the 1st set.
There's some meandering before getting started as well as lulls early in the set between songs Jerry rises a lttle during his solos in Althea and does a nice job closing out the set w/deal.
Surprised me that the 1st set was so short. 2nd set much better, very sonic Drm/space and nice playn/uncleJ. Encore was memorable as crowd really got into it, which seemed to get Jerry to grin. Never got to see that grin again.

The funnest shows I've ever gone to
Even though it was close to the end, I got to experience the fun and amusement of the grateful dead taking over Las Vegas for the firs time. Instead of the usual well dressed retiree or yahoo high rollers, patchouli smell, dreadlocks, and Tie dyes painted the atmosphere in front of the slots and card tables at Circus Circus. It was a blast. Dave Mathews opened the show and loved the shower out in the parking lot to keep us hydrated during our stay. I give it a 4 since i was there....
